Written on 24/11/2009 12:29:36 by Gawjusmumie

Hi im an 18year old Mother to be who is due in March next year..
i was just wondering what you would reccommend??
Is it suitable to have Baby at home or in the hospital??
My partner and i would like to have a Home birth in a spa also drug free birth but i am so scared to have a home birth due to this being my first child.I just want everything to be so special but im having a hard time deciding!so leave a comment on your experiances or what you would reccommend !
Much appreciated! :-)

Hi. Like you I also wanted to give birth at home and wanted it to be drug free. Because I was a first time mother, my midwife recommended hospital just in case something was needed. My partner and I agreed in the end to have the birth at the hospital but still drug free. In the end, after a night of regular strong contractions I found out that I had an obstructed labor and I end up having a C-section (which means I did end up having drugs). My advise to you is first of all, keep your mind open when it comes to your birth plan, if something that wasn't planned happens you wont feel as stress. I felt very safe and comfortable in the hospital, I was well taken care of. Whether through natural birth or C-section, with drugs or no drugs the most important thing is the wellbeing of both you and your baby - all the rest is less important. All the best for the rest of the pregnancy and parenthood :)

Hey, Noone can tell you where or how to have your bub...but I just wanted to share...I had an awesome pregnancy...planned a natural birth with no drugs etc...ended up been in labour for 52hours and ending in emergency C section...I have a happy healthy lil man...however, my sister had a home birth and everything went smooth for her, so its whatever your comfortable with :) Hope it goes well for you whatever you decide
